Cape Wine & Vindaba going green

Written by: Save to Instapaper

After an absence of four years Wines of South Africa (WOSA) will be hosting the Cape Wine show on 25-27 September 2012 at the CTICC. Here it will showcase the best of the best local wines for the likes of restaurateurs, exporters, media and the every day folk.

A new event, Vindaba, will also be taking part in conjunction to Cape Wine. Vindaba will focus on wine tourism and gives tour companies and wine estates the chance to showcase who they are and what they offer.

WOSA CEO Su Birch is known as a powerhouse both locally and internationally, being voted one of the top ten most influential people within the wine industry. While planning for Cape Wine she had a vision for a green and sustainable expo and implemented a green policy as the basis for the event. This includes having delegates stay in hotels within walking distance of the event and having them buy trees to be planted in wine lands after the show. Cape Wine will also be using recyclable products wherever possible, serving locally produced foods to cut emissions from transport and creating a theme of sustainability throughout the event.

Su had seen Xanita at various events and approached them as the solution for the event because they fit perfectly with her vision of a “green and sustainable expo”. Xanita manufactures an eco friendly corrugated paper fibre board (X-Board) which can be used for various applications like shop-fitting, point of purchase stands, signage, exhibition booths and furniture. X-Board stands can be easily flat packed for transport, are reuse-able after the event and they are also 100% recyclable after their useful life.

Xanita’s exclusive exhibition and events partner Resource Design offers a bespoke and cost effective solution in the exhibition industry. Their focus is on delivering a turn key solution to service providers, stand builders and professional conference organizers as they facilitate everything from design to set up of the stands. This partnership means that all 250 exhibition stands are being manufactured in house by Xanita’s design team and converting facility. This will create a uniform look at the event and will really bring home the feeling of a sustainable expo.

Thebe and Oasys, both well known players in the exhibition industry, will be helping with the assembly at the CTICC. With each stand individually packed and taking only 20 to 30 minutes from start to full assembly the set up time will be significantly shorter than other events of this scale. The fact that minimal screws and other joining methods are needed to support the stands also means that there will be less of a mess after assembly and deconstruction, leaving the venue with minimum clean up.

Guaranteed buy in both locally and internationally ensures the event will no doubt be a raging success! So come and enjoy the best the wine industry has to offer.
