The Boland Private Cellar concerts will take place Sunday 4 October 2009. The first will be at 3:30 pm at Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre in Parow, then in the evening at 8:00 pm the orchestra will perform the Strooidak Kerk in Paarl. The concert is a special selection of light, popular works for chamber orchestra cherished by music lovers around the world.
The program includes:
- Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber
- St. Paul’s Suite by Gustav Holst
- Concerto for Oboe and Orchestra No. 2 by Tomasso Albinoni
- The Holberg Suite by Edvard Greig
- Eine Kleine Nachtmusic by Wolfgang Mozart
- Local oboe virtuoso Carin Bam will be the soloist on the Oboe Concerto.
The orchestra, conducted by Bill Holland and lead by Jurgen Schwietering includes many well known and experienced string players now living in the Cape. Tickets cost R80 for adults and R60 for pensioners and students
