In a quote from an exclusive interview with Riky in SA Hip Hop Mag the rapper said Rémy Martin was responsible for him figuring out what Hip Hop was. “The first line I remember was “When the Rémy is in the system “if you know hip hop you know who said that. So, from that line I was curious about Rémy and as I got a little bit older I figured oh, it’s a cognac. I realised that’s why it sounded so good because it is such a great cognac and that’s why they rapped about it so much.

The cognac brand is known for its cavalier status and continuing to invest in young aspiring artists by awarding them with once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. The brand has also collaborated with international icon Usher.
After creating their first Rémy Producers in 2019, they brushed off the Covid-19 pandemic to bring the competition back for 2023. During the Remy Producers Season 2 finale, Major League DJz recorded the latest instalment of their internationally acclaimed YouTube series, Balcony Mix Africa.
The twin brothers played an hour-long set after the new season of the producer talent search competition concluded, with 24-year-old from Ga-Rankuwa, Thuto The Human crowned as the winner. Part of Thuto’s winnings was a tour alongside the duo in Dubai and a collaboration with Emirati Born musician Freek.
Major league DJ’s describe Thuto’s music mix as a perfect match for the criteria the judges were looking for, which included making the audience move.

Thuto the human made his spotlight in the music industry after collaborating with youngster duo Mellow on Sleezy on their hit single “Ke Dipatje.” Alastair Coombe, head of digital marketing and Ecommerce for Remy Martin, echoed that the brand does not expect any future profit from Thuto but only wants to see him capitalize on the platform given him to excel, especially with the musical opportunities provided.
“It is not on us to expect future returns or anything like that. I think it’s just to get the guys out there and see them grow and access the support and general tools at his disposal, That’s the expectation,” he answered.
