30 nominees announced for South Africa’s top restaurant awards

To the excitement of food lovers all across the country, the 30 nominees for the highly anticipated 2018 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards have just been announced: http://www.eatout.co.za/article/30-nominees-2018/

The nominated restaurants were determined by the scores of a panel of anonymous judges, convened by Margot Janse, who dined around the country. “A fantastic field of nominees has come out of this year’s judging, with some newcomers and old favourites making up a list that truly represents the best of the best in South African dining today,” says Margot. “As always, these nominees have been nominated for their achievements in excellent dining, innovative menus, ambience and service excellence.” The judging criteria can be viewed at http://www.eatout.co.za/award/2018-eat-out-mercedes-benz-restaurant-awards/#awardjudging
The Top 10 restaurants will be revealed on Sunday 18 November 2018 at the awards ceremony at GrandWest in Cape Town, following the countdown from positions 20 to 11. Says Eat Out Editor Linda Scarborough: “The announcement of the 30 nominees is an absolute highlight on our calendar. This year, we are pleased to see five new names featuring in the top 30 in South Africa, and we look forward to counting down to the restaurant of the year on 18 November.”

In addition to awarding the Top 10 restaurants, the 2018 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards will recognise the Eat Out S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna Chef of the Year, the Eat Out Retail Capital New Restaurant of the Year and the Eat Out Nederburg Rising Star. Winners will also be announced for the Eat Out Graham Beck Chefs’ Chef Award, the Eat Out Diners Club Service Excellence Award, the Eat Out Wine Service Award, the Eat Out John Psillos Award for Outstanding Contribution to Service, the Eat Out Lannice Snyman Lifetime Achievement Award, the Eat Out Woolworths Sustainability Award, and the Eat Out Style Award.
