Written by: Save to Instapaper

The topic of cyber security in South Africa has been elevated to reflect the extreme vulnerability of both private and public sectors. The attacks involving cybercrime, cyber espionage and cyber warfare cost billions each year and allow the breach of personal and proprietary data.  On Friday, November 5th, Sharon Knowles, CEO of the well-known cyber security company, Da Vinci Forensics, is presenting a crucial subject entitled ‘Attacker Perspective’ where she will be reviewing cyber ‘ghosting’ and ‘classifieds.

CyberCon Africa, 2015 is a two day conference in Wapadrand, Pretoria, bringing together the many leading experts in the cyber threat fields. Discussions include best practices, upcoming threats, law enforcement, requirements, compliance, regulations and the review between a network of like-minded people involving cyber security practitioners.  The conference is designed to both educate and empower businesses in recognizing and combatting the various cyber security methods.

The presentation by Ms. Knowles is addressing the often obscured but high risk topics of:‘Ghosting’: the illegal hosting of a bad/criminal website on a previously good site.  ‘Classifieds’: The latest cybercrime technology methods being used in classified advertising listings.“As professionals in the field of cyber security, Da Vinci Forensics has witnessed an increase in cybercrime and works diligently to keep the public and our clients educated on the continuingly devious methods that are used by cybercriminals.

In an effort to assist, we offer our CloudProtect services with a free month trial to help in protecting electronic data in a secure format. Da Vinci Forensics works closely with community and industry members to maintain the highest priority of security and shares the knowledge base of the latest cybercriminal nuances and attacks.”Sharon Knowles, CEO of Da Vinci Forensics
