Driven by the network transformation taking shape in the industry to enable new digital services, MetroFibre, a carrier class Ethernet (CE 3.0) infrastructure company that provides highly managed fibre optic broadband connectivity in South Africa, is proud to announce that it has received MEF 3.0 Carrier Ethernet (CE) certification.
MetroFibre has successfully completed all six projects to achieve its MEF 3.0 CE Certification:
- E-Tree (EVP-Tree) service – 26 July 2021
- Transit E-Line service – 14 June 2021
- Access E-Line (A EPL) service – 14 April 2021
- Access E-Line (A EVPL) service - 14 April 2021
- E-LAN (EVP-LAN) service – 29 March 2021
- E-Line (EVPL) service – 1 February 2021
Paul Jones, Senior Network Architect at MetroFibre says, “Since the inception of MetroFibre in 2010, we have been a member of MEF, a global industry forum for network and cloud providers, and have always built our network capabilities according to MEF standards. Achieving MEF 3.0 CE certification as a stand-alone service provider authenticates the simplified, pre-validated functionality and frictionless implementation of our fibre optic broadband connectivity offered to clients.”
“It means that our clients can be confident that MetroFibre meets the global industry’s highest standards due to MEF’s meticulous specifications for performance, assurance and agility. It is especially relevant during a time where so many organisations are undergoing tremendous digital transformation in the face of a disrupted world brought about by the ongoing pandemic. Many organisations had to re-invent itself and its offering to adapt to a new environment and many will need a trusted partner that can seamlessly enable these changes,” says Paul.
“This achievement would not have been possible without Riaan Vos, Principal Network Specialist at MetroFibre and the support of our partner, NEC XON, who guided our team on what is expected in order to plan our MEF certification approach,” says Paul.
“Our focus has - and always will - remain on providing our clients with the very best service offering that can be trusted and measured by global standards, which is underpinned by our MEF 3.0 CE certification which validates our performance excellence,” concludes Paul.
