Esquire Achieves Over 200% Growth in Online Sales on Black Friday 2024
Submitted by: Preston MoodleyEsquire, a leading technology and distribution company, has reached a remarkable milestone, achieving over 200% growth in online sales during Black Friday 2024 compared to the previous year. This accomplishment underscores the company’s commitment to digital innovation, product diversification, and empowering both customers and business partners.
A Major Step Forward in Online Infrastructure
Esquire invested over R600,000 to overhaul its online platform, marking a critical phase in its digital transformation journey. Transitioning from outdated ASPX.net and Flash-based systems to a modern platform powered by ASP.Net Core and React JS, the company achieved significant scalability and efficiency. The eight-month migration was completed just in time to manage the surge in Black Friday traffic and orders.
“The increase in sales is a result of several factors, including our revamped online platform and the expanded product range we’ve introduced in recent months,” said Kabir Ismail, General Manager at Esquire.
Diverse Product Offerings Drive Record Sales
Esquire’s record-breaking performance was further enhanced by its expanded product portfolio. While IT staples such as smart televisions, laptops, and peripherals remained bestsellers, the company saw significant growth in its Consumer Home Lifestyle Division. Products like air conditioners, air fryers, small and large home appliances, and renewable energy products were major contributors to its success.
“Our diversified product mix has resonated strongly with customers, helping us capture new market segments and solidify our position as a comprehensive solutions provider,” added Kabir Ismail.
Simplifying the Customer Experience
The redesigned platform focuses on enhancing the overall customer experience. Key features such as intuitive navigation, secure payment systems, and integrated courier services ensure a seamless shopping process.
“Our aim was to simplify the shopping experience while maintaining flexibility for customers, regardless of the device they use,” Ismail explained. Fully optimised for smartphones, tablets, and desktops, the platform is accessible to a wide range of users.
Phase Two: Advancing Reseller Integration
Mariam Wadiwala, General Manager at ImproWeb, has been pivotal in ensuring the website and backend systems are user-friendly. “This is only Phase One of the project. We are now starting work on Phase Two, which will align our Virtual Reseller Network (VRN) and Syndicated Datafeed clients with the upgraded platform. The project is set to be completed by May 2025,” said Wadiwala.
Empowering Resellers with VRN and Datafeed Tools
Esquire’s Virtual Reseller Network (VRN) and Syndicated Datafeed empower its reseller community with real-time access to product data, pricing, and inventory. These tools enable seamless integration with resellers’ e-commerce platforms.
“The VRN and Datafeed tools have revolutionised how our partners operate, allowing them to focus on growing their businesses while we manage the complexities of product information and logistics,” explained Wadiwala. Once Phase Two is completed, resellers will benefit from automated catalogue synchronisation, real-time updates, and streamlined order processing.
CourierDirect and Mobile App Development
Esquire is enhancing logistics through its CourierDirect platform, which simplifies delivery processes. Additionally, the company is developing a mobile app that will allow customers to place orders directly from their smartphones.
“The new app will complement our fully mobile-compatible website, providing customers with a convenient and intuitive way to shop,” said Wadiwala.
Pioneering E-Commerce Innovation
As one of the first companies in South Africa to introduce an online ordering system, Esquire has cemented its reputation as a pioneer in e-commerce innovation. Its cutting-edge solutions, including the VRN, Syndicated Datafeed, and CourierDirect platforms, reaffirm its leadership in the industry.
“With these advancements, we’re not only celebrating record-breaking sales but also reaffirming our position as a leader in e-commerce innovation. Our focus remains on delivering exceptional value to our customers and partners while driving technological progress,” said Wadiwala.
A Promising Future Ahead
With its revamped platform, diversified product offerings, and innovative reseller tools, Esquire is well-positioned for continued success during the festive season and beyond. The company’s dedication to digital transformation and customer-centric solutions is shaping the future of online retail in South Africa.
