1-grid reflects on business since the move from WebAfrica
Written by: Saskia Schuldig Save to InstapaperSouthern Africa has seen a significant shift towards complete digitalisation in the last year. Companies fast tracked their digital transformation, consumers became more confident with online shopping, and more individuals took the leap of faith and started their own small businesses. Many believe entrepreneurship is the driving force behind economic growth in Southern Africa, and this includes 1-grid.
With more and more people shifting to the online economy, 1-grid’s move from WebAfrica in 2018 couldn’t have come at a better time. Their dedicated focus on the web hosting space in Southern Africa was built to offer refined product offerings for the customer looking for a one-stop-shop solution to get their business online.
“We made a bid to focus on the SME market in Southern Africa. Our aim was to build a world-class web hosting offering with dedicated attention to our customers. Now, more than ever, it’s important for SMEs to have an online platform, and since 2018 we have not only built a premium web hosting service, but a suite of online products”, says 1-grid CEO, Thomas Vollrath.
1-grid has grown its product portfolio to offer everything from best of breed, high-performance enterprise servers, and professional business email, to website creation and even VPN.
By 2019, 1-grid reached more than 35,000 customers, and is growing. After its web hosting solution and product suite was achieved and seeing the importance of mobile in Southern Africa, 1-grid set its sights on an app. A year later it was launched and serves to help new and existing customers manage and maintain their website solutions on-the-go.
In 2021, 1-grid continues to focus on the improvement and success of customer support. It’s a constant evolution and adaptation to customer needs, and the latest additions to the company’s support system include new interactive channels (web chat and WhatsApp) and a brand-new Knowledge Base to assist customers throughout their product experience. Following this, the older Windows Control Panels were replaced with the modern Plesk Obsidian, providing customers with even simpler, easy-to-use website and server management from their desktop or mobile devices.
A lot has been achieved since the move from WebAfrica in 2018, but with the tech industry moving at its current speed 1-grid is extremely proud of the achievements so far, but also excited for what is to come. While number two ranking in the ISP category on Hello Peter, and a 4.4 average rating on Google have been achieved, 1-grid continues to set its business goals high.
