DA-led Joburg committed to providing dignified housing
Written by: MyPressportal Team Save to Instapaperby Heinrich Cyril Volmink - City of Johannesburg Regional ChairpersonThe DA-led Johannesburg administration is committed to providing secure homes in the city as it understands the important role of home ownership in the lives of our residents. In the past year, the DA-led City government committed itself to assisting Johannesburg residents who do not have houses by providing them with dignified homes through the issuing of title deeds. In October, the City delivered 456 title deeds to house beneficiaries in Lufhereng. Further to this, it is currently building a number of housing units across Johannesburg and will continue with the provision of home ownership to communities. The Housing Department has committed itself to ensuring that all completed housing units are allocated by the end of the 2017/18 financial year. The City has announced an allocation of a R152 million budget and a multi-year capital budget of R1.9 billion to fund the Johannesburg Social Housing Company’s purchase of buildings in the inner city, which will be renovated to create more residential places. The City has also allocated R66 million towards the purchase of a site where RDP houses can be built. The Democratic Alliance is committed to excellence in service delivery and is determined to provide the residents of Johannesburg with greater, safer and more dignified housing. Working where we govern in the city and across the province, the DA provides service-orientated leadership where the ANC has, in the past, failed to deliver. We believe that the people of the Gauteng will see this, and that they will support the DA towards victory in the province in 2019.
