Construction of luxury Constantia retirement village in full swing

After 8 years of planning and consultation, construction of Great Oaks, a multi million Rand, luxury retirement village  on Schoenstatt Estate in Constantia, is forging ahead.

Developed by Constantia Life Developers and scheduled to welcome residents at the end of 2023, Great Oaks Retirement Village will offer 53 two- and three-bedroom cottages, and 30 studio-, one- and two-bedroom apartments.

Helen Seaman, Director of Constantia Life Developers, says they aim to meet the needs of the affluent retiree who demands a modern, luxury retirement option that provides world-class on-site care services. “To this end, we have put together a blue-chip team to turn this vision into a reality and we are confident that we are busy re-writing the blueprint for retirement villages across our country.”

Construction of Great Oaks started after an extensive programme of relocating existing trees and shrubs to a temporary nursery and protecting the trees that have been earmarked to remain in place.

‘We are delighted to have GVK Siya-Zama as our main contractors. As one of Cape Town’s most reputable construction companies, they are known for their award-winning projects and the team overseeing the construction of our village, has a wealth of knowledge and experience.”

“To fully embrace  the village’s “Age-in-Place” philosophy, we have worked closely with an extensive team of architects and engineers to ensure  each unit is designed to be 100% wheelchair friendly and adaptable to cater for residents’ unique and changing care requirements as they grow older.”

Construction on the first group of cottages and the central Lifestyle Centre started simultaneously while the extensive civil engineering to install the network of services across the site is ongoing. “As a single phase build, our residents will be able to enjoy everything the village has to offer from the moment they move in,’ said Seaman.

Apart from an a la carte restaurant, cafe and bar, Great Oaks’ residents will also enjoy access to  spa and wellness facilities which will include a fitness centre and ozone therapy pool, recreational spaces, lush gardens and walking trails. Comprehensive home-based care, on-site frail care and a world-class memory care facility complete the Great Oaks offering.

Great Oaks Retirement Village is almost completely sold out, with a handful of cottages and apartments still available for purchase within the life rights model.
