Case Study : Rooibos TeaThe client complained that the boiler was cycling every 5 minutes and that the moisture in the tea varied between 6 and 9%.  They also had the high cost replacement coils every year and to top it all fuel costs were rising.Combustion Technology installed a new Garioni 2-pass Steam Boiler together with a new Riello Burner fitted with the Micromodulation System and the results have been dramatic.The boiler ran continuously at 7.5 Bar, the moisture content in the tea was constant at 10% and they have no replacement coils.  The biggest surprise was fuel savings of 58%.  This meant that the new equipment was paid for in less than 12 months.The Boiler Economizer : Contributing to the Environment The Economizer was developed to help customers to reduce process operating costs.The purchase cost of a boiler accounts for only 1,5 - 2% of overall costs of running and maintaining it, based on the assumption that its lifecycle is 15 years.The Economizer GN/EG ECO has been studied and installed in all types of industrial processes when discharging gasses into the atmosphere.Hot gasses flowing through the GN/EG ECO are used to heat another fluid (Typically boiler feedwater), achieving important energy savings while reducing operating costs.The energy saving, on average, depending of course on the boiler design and operating conditions, is estimated to be between 3 and 6%.  The Economizer costs can therefore be amortized in less than one year.The Economizer is fully automatic and virtually maintenance free for added peace of mind and can be built in different versions, as a function of the different utilities and the chemical composition of the gasses.They are available with finned pipe, seamless pipe or stainless steel pipe according to the specifications.Contact Details:Grant Renecle Combustion Technology +27 21 715 3171 grantr@rielloburners.co.za
