Medical Aid Member Checker

{pp}Medical Aid Member Checker (aka Memcheck), a standalone software package developed by Better Practice Management, has been launched to help all health care providers in South Africa check for benefit eligibility of medical aid members.

This helps prevent fraud, reduces billing errors and minimizes bad debt. Information about eligibility is provided within seconds of the patient presenting him -or herself for treatment at reception.

Utilizing the practice computer with a broadband internet connection, the receptionist simply selects the medical aid and keys in the membership number. Within eight seconds the system will respond with full details of the member’s eligibility for benefits. Unlike a web-based system which requires that the browser open up a web page, the Memcheck software resides on the local PC for real-time response.

Their software is provided free-of-charge to all bona fide BHF registered service providers, and the fee per transaction is R3.50 on a pay-as-you-use basis. More information and resources can be found at http://www.memcheck.co.za
