April 2022, South Africa - Makazole Mapimpi, one of the best wingers in the world has the most remarkable career in rugby history. Born and bred in the Eastern Cape, his late start in professional rugby did not hinder his performance. His rise to the top, much like his pace on the field has been a fast ascend and has left the world in awe.
Twizza, a beverage brand, started in the Eastern Cape has fast become a household brand nationally having extended its product range over the years. This company has a vested interest in sport having sponsored a few clubs over the years.
These two brands, both originating from the Eastern Cape, have had a similar journey and have intersected first in 2017 when Twizza became the official throat sponsor for the Cheetahs and in the same year Makazole Mapimpi was signed on to the Cheetahs. In 2019 Twizza commences its plan to release its first energy drink and in the same year Makazole attends his first rugby world cup where he breaks the record for the first try scored in a rugby world cup final by the South African national team.
In 2021 Twizza announces its partnership with Makazole, making him the ambassador of the brand and in 2022 Makazole becomes the face of the Twizza energy drink beverage.
“There is a perfect synergy in this partnership, not only because of our shared humble beginnings, but also because Makazole is the epitome of making dreams come true.
Our Twizza Energy range is a unique Energy range, with a variety of different flavours. We are very privileged to have Makazole Mapimpi on our Twizza Energy Original can. His energy and passion that comes through when is on the rugby field, is the perfect representation of our Brand positioning - Energise the Moment. “ - Lance Coertzen, Twizza Group Marketing Manager.
Both brands coming from humble beginnings to currently having a noticeable foot print aspire to help others in their infancy stages of their dreams. In celebration of the Twizza Makazole Mapimpi energy drink, Twizza has an exciting opportunity to help a few individuals in their journey to achieving their dreams. About Twizza
It all started in 1980 with a dairy farm, a herd of cows and a desire to create the best life for a family. The founder Ken Clark expanded his dairy farm into a milk shop providing quality milk to the local Eastern Cape community.
The milk shop was such a success that Ken Clark was able to purchase a bigger property and his first milk pasteurizer. Crickley dairy was officially born in Queenstown, and he expanded his range to farm fresh local dairy products and juices.
In 2003 Ken Clark’s entrepreneurial spirit resulted in the launch of a carbonated soft drink brand called Twizza. Given the monopolised nature of the soft drink industry Ken Clark saw the opportunity to provide affordable refreshment to all South Africans.
Providing a good quality, affordable product to the market proved to be so successful that in 2012 a second Twizza factory was opened in Middelburg, Mpumalanga. A third plant was established in 2015, in Cape Town. Today, they boast a distribution network spanning across South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Botswana and Mozambique.
From humble beginnings, Twizza has since established itself as one of the country’s household beverage brands operating in the Carbonated Soft Drinks, Energy and Water categories.
