TikTok has become a popular social media platform in South Africa, with a variety of content including dance routines, challenges, and funny videos. Among these, there is also a wealth of recipe content and foodie trends that can be enjoyed by families. While some trends may be relevant for local audiences, others may require ingredients that are harder to find in South Africa.
Laager Tea4Kidz Rooibos has put a local spin on three current TikTok foodie trends, with a health focus so that the whole family can enjoy them. These recipes are great to make with kids and can help parents and caregivers encourage children to eat healthily.
TikTok Trend 1: Pop It!Using pop-its to make cute yoghurt bark is a popular trend on TikTok. Laager Tea4Kidz has taken this snack to the next level with a local Rooibos twist. The recipe for Laager Tea4Kidz Rooibos yoghurt bark involves making a Rooibos syrup using two Laager Tea4Kidz Rooibos teabags, boiling water, and granulated sugar. Once the syrup has cooled, it is mixed with yoghurt, blueberries, and granola to make the yoghurt bark. The mixture is then placed in a silicone mould and frozen for at least two hours before being removed from the freezer and enjoyed.
TikTok Trend 2: Overnight OatsOvernight oats recipes are popular on TikTok, and Laager Tea4Kidz has put a local twist on this trend using some homegrown Rooibos. The recipe for Laager Tea4Kidz Rooibos overnight oats involves making a Rooibos syrup using the same method as the yoghurt bark recipe. The syrup is then mixed with hot milk, oats, yoghurt, peanut butter, and fruit for topping. The mixture is placed in the fridge overnight and topped with fruit in the morning before being enjoyed.
TikTok Trend 3: Energy BallsHealthy energy balls have become popular on TikTok as a substitute for sweets and chocolate, offering a healthier energy boost. Laager Tea4Kidz has created a date ball recipe with added Rooibos, which is the perfect healthy treat for those in the family who have a sweet tooth. The recipe for Laager Tea4Kidz Rooibos date balls involves making a Rooibos tea using a teabag and boiling water. The tea is then mixed with pitted dates, peanut butter, cocoa powder, salt, and vanilla essence in a blender until smooth. Desiccated coconut and crushed Marie biscuits or almonds are then folded into the mixture before being rolled into balls and coated in desiccated coconut or melted chocolate.
The Laager Tea4Kidz Rooibos range is naturally caffeine-free and sugar-free, and offers a variety of flavours, including two with added Vitamin C for even more health benefits. Parents and caregivers can also access a range of healthy recipes, advice, and tips via the Joekels website, www.joekels.co.za, and via @Tea4Kidz on Facebook and @LaagerRooibosTea on Instagram.
