Johannesburg, 14 December, 2023 – Hennessy has proudly announced that the Limited Edition Hennessy x Kim Jones Collection has arrived in South Africa. While the collection garnered global acclaim during its official launch in March 2023, it has only recently made its long-awaited debut on South African soil.
The collaboration, between the world’s leading cognac brand and the visionary creative director of Fendi, Kim Jones, created an exclusive collection that pays homage to Hennessy X.O’s 150 years of cultural impact by artfully bringing together crafted cognac and couture.
This partnership signified a big milestone for both parties as it was the first time Hennessy teamed up with a creative fashion designer to release a customer-facing wearable accessory, and likewise, it is Jones’ first collaboration with a spirits brand. Encapsulating the richness of Hennessy X.O’s heritage with the creative vision of Jones, the collection pays tribute to cognac-making and couture, two processes that work on an understanding of science and the natural world, as well as artisanal craftsmanship.
Market Manager of Southern Africa at Moët Hennessy, Stefanos Kondylis, said, “This first-of-its-kind collaboration with Kim Jones marks a cultural milestone for Hennessy. Kim’s collection is set in a contemporary style and is inspired by the emblematic personality of Hennessy X.O. Kim designs are destined to make an impact on culture today and in the future.”
The Collection Offers:
The Hennessy X.O Masterpiece featuring a twisting folds design is reminiscent of couture clothing draping. Only three of these exclusive items are available in SA, and can be found in and around Johannesburg at Norman Goodfellows in Melrose, Makro in Woodmead, and Boulevard Cellars in Rivonia, and retails for R500 000.
The Hennessy X.O Limited Edition Bottle showcases the signature bottle shape with a couture silhouette to highlight the combination of fashion and cognac. These iconic bottles can be found at most liquor retailers and retails for R3 500.
The HNY Low by Kim Jones is a limited edition sneaker inspired by early low-top designs to create an elegant and timeless look suitable for various styles and ages. Although two pairs of the limited edition sneakers have entered SA, they are not for sale.
"I'm fascinated by the rich heritage of Hennessy, a household name behind which artisans have spent hundreds of years creating this special cognac," said Jones. "Storytelling is very important for me regardless of what I'm designing or who I'm collaborating with – I want my designs to educate and inspire people through the stories they tell."
The Hennessy x Kim Jones Limited Edition Collection artfully combines craftsmanship, culture and creativity.
