Famous Brands Coffee Company Launches The Loba Coffee Range

The Famous Brands Coffee Company, supplier of coffee to the Famous Brands franchise network including Mugg & Bean, Wimpy, Vovo Telo and others, has launched a range of new coffee blends that celebrate coffee sourced from different coffee growing regions around the world.

In creating the Loba range, the company didn’t just want to blend coffee, but wanted to pay homage to the history and the character of each region. “So each of the five blends was inspired by the people, the land, and ancient stories from that region” says Brian Best, Managing Partner of the Famous Brands Coffee Company. “We also added ‘the muse’ into the name when we realised how inspiring these different regions are and what it must have been like to have witnessed their formation” he adds.

The mandate given to their roast master was to capture the essence of the coffee from each region and the result has been the creation of the five unique blends:

“Awakening the Nazca Plate” showcases the best of coffee from Brazil, Honduras and Colombia and recognises the Central and South American geo-shift that occurred millions of years ago.

“Dawn of the Americas” blends together coffee from Brazil, Colombia, and Guatemala as a reference to the Central American bridge that joins North and South America.

Closer to home, “Depths of Maziwu Makuu” offers a tribute to the Great Lakes region of Africa where Ugandan, Rwandan and Ethiopian coffee is blended together in tribute to the incredible geological activity that resulted in both the mountains that are so conducive to coffee growing, and the deep valleys that formed deep lakes.

The “Giants of the Rift Valley” blend focuses on these important mountains and the well-known quality of Kenyan coffee which is blended with Tanzanian and Ethiopian coffee to represent a truly East African blend.

The final blend, the “Mystery of Gondwana,” besides paying homage to the shift in tectonic plates that separated Africa and Asia millions of years ago, is a true Mocca Java blend made only from Ethiopian and Indonesian coffee. “Although many blends get called ‘Mocca Java’ by roasters, the true essence of Mocca Java is in the combination of these two origins, and we wanted to capture this in an authentic way” he adds.
