The Official Mrs Soweto team recently announced the 2024/25 Mrs Soweto Finalists (Luminary Group 1) at a Sashing Ceremony hosted by Group 1 Renault The Glen, who are proud sponsors of The Official Mrs Soweto Empowerment Programme.
The Official Mrs Soweto will walk away with a brand new Renault Kiger for the year of her reign.
It has been an impactful few months since the inaugural Mrs Soweto was crowned at a glittering black tie gala event at Soweto theatre in August last year.
Mel Tlhapi, Mrs Soweto 2023 has attended over 35 events since she was crowned including; working with the Department of Economic Development and Joburg Tourism on key initiatives, various community projects, featuring on the catwalk at Soweto Fashion Week, to hosting Mrs World and Mrs South Africa in Soweto.
The Mrs Soweto Team will be closing entries for Radiance Group 2 on Friday 16th August.
The Mrs Soweto finalists will have a busy calendar of events running up to the finale starting with an empowering workshop on 31 August.
The Grand Finale will be another glittering event for the social calendar and will take place at Soweto Theatre on Sat 15th March 2025.
“The Mrs Soweto female empowerment programme is all about empowering women and making a difference in the community”, enthused Dr Tshegofatso Mathe, CEO of Mrs Soweto. “The Finalists attend various workshops to empower and uplift them and at the end of the journey they will graduate from our empowerment programme.”
Mrs Soweto was crowned with a traditional African hat. It is a symbol of hope and courage to be able to stand for and represent all. This crown embodies serving the community at large and being seen as a true representation of a woman who can be her authentic self. A true example of Mmabatho – a people’s person.
Proceeds from Mrs Soweto will go to Baby Thabo Thsepo Mathe Cares Foundation which supplies care packs to mothers in need that have babies requiring surgery.
The Mrs Soweto Team recently gifted Care Packs to the mothers with babies in NICU at Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital on World Prematurity Day.
Mrs Soweto was also recently nominated for a Soweto Tourism Award in acknowledgment of the impact that Mrs Soweto is having on the community and Tourism in Soweto.
