STIKBOT™ stop animation toy now available in South Africa
Submitted by: Veruska D'OnofrioStikBot is a brand new, highly innovative toy that allows amateur film-makers of all ages to create, animate and share original stop-motion videos via an app.
Leading toy and game importer and distributor Prima Toys has launched StikBot™, the stop-motion animation star and one of the first social media sharing toys to hit the market.
“StikBot is a traditional toy with an exciting new spin, adding the use of social media sharing into the fun of play,” says Chiquita Patrizi, spokesperson for Prima Toys. “StikBot is truly cutting edge and has addressed a new avenue that is fast becoming today’s new ‘traditional play pattern.’ It’s a fun new way to engage older kids and infuse play into social media platforms they’re already using.”
Developed with creativity and imagination in mind, StikBot turns kids into moviemakers. These little figurines with suction-cup hands and feet can stick to almost any flat surface, making them easy to pose. The free StikBot Studio app, available on iOS and Android, snaps individual photos and stitches them together into a film. The app is complete with music and sound effects.
The green-screen that is included in the studio pro pack brings extra fun to the stop-animation process. Kids can place StikBots in front of the green-screen, create an animation and then choose a background, any background! What adds to the fun is the fact that once complete, original videos can be shared in the virtual creative community with hashtag #StikBot and #StikBotZA.
Prima Toys continues to encourages imaginative play. “With StikBot, we’re not just stimulating physical activity, but also inspiring creative minds with a range of innovative products that combine new technology with simple fun,” continues Patrizi. “Social media is fast becoming an integral part of everyday life. We wanted to break ground and launch something new and totally different in the toy industry and with StikBot we’ve filled this gap.”
StikBot is ideal for ages 10 and up, with teens actively using the toy to make stop-motion videos with the app. “We expect teenagers aged between 13 and 18 to be the driver for social sharing content. We also expect a lot of young adults and adults to have fun with this toy,” concludes Patrizi.
StikBot is available in a single pack that includes one figure (RSP: 129.99), in a studio pack that includes 2 StikBot figures and a tripod (RSP: R299.99) and a studio pro pack that includes 2 figurines, one tripod and one green screen (RSP: R459.99). They can be found at leading retailers across the country.
