Calling Professional models to cast for #DFF2022
Written by: Steven J Brown Save to Instapaper
The iconic Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) will be hosting an open model casting on Wednesday, 31 August at the Durban Botanic Gardens Conference Room.
Now in its 11th year, the DFF features the collections of an array of national and emerging designers. The open model casting seeks to offer a fair and transparent process to models to walk the runway of the fashion extravaganza.
The DFF will be held from 21 to 23 September at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre.
All models interested in casting must be in good physical shape, and be registered with a modelling agency and must bring a professional Z-Card along with them. The models that are selected must ensure that they make themselves available over the fitting and show dates.
- Ladies must have a minimum height without heels of 1.76 metres with the following measurements: Bust: 81cm - 83cm / Waist: 24" - 27" / Hips: 34" - 37". Ladies must wear minimal makeup, body fitting clothing (no jeans) and bring a pair of heels.
- Male models must be no less than 1.85 metres tall and fit into a size 30-32 trouser with chest measurements between 36"- 40". They must wear a form fitted t-shirt/shirt and closed shoes (no trainers/takkies).
The casting will take place at the Durban Botanical Gardens Conference Room on Wednesday, 31 August, situated at 9A John Zikhali Road, Musgrave. Registration starts at 11am with castings starting promptly at 11.30am and ending at 2pm. No latecomers will be accepted.
Providing an opportunity for models to break into the industry, several “new face” models were selected from across eThekwini late last year and have successfully completed their model boot-camp training in all things “model etiquette” in order to prepare them for the DFF and the fashion industry. Many models who have trained under the programme previously have gone on to establish professional careers with top agencies from around the country. They have participated in advertising campaigns for major clothing stores and have walked fashion runways around the country, with some doing TV commercial work.
A 2020 DFF model boot camp beneficiary Thandeka Phakathi is with iModel Management. Her recent campaigns include Edgars Beauty, True Love Magazine, and Mr Price Sport and Sivuyile Makunga, who is with Model HQ, has done several modelling jobs including Nedbank and Castle Lite advertisements.
