Webber Wentzel further strengthens its dispute resolution practice in Cape Town
Written by: MyPressportal Team Save to InstapaperWebber Wentzel has further strengthened its dispute resolution practice with another new partner hire, this time in its Cape Town office.
The firm has announced the appointment of Kim Rew, who joins its dispute resolution practice in Cape Town, effective 1 November 2016. Webber Wentzel has seen a surge in the demand for dispute resolution specialists and Kim's hire will further bolster the firm's market leading position in this field.
Kim joins Webber Wentzel from Norton Rose Fulbright, where she was a director in the dispute resolution practice since 2003, specialising in insurance and commercial litigation, with a focus on liability-related matters.
Kim's appointment is in line with the firm's growth strategy and follows closely on the heels of a number of recent strategic appointments, including the recent appointment of Kathryn Gawith in the firm's Johannesburg dispute resolution practice.
Kim holds a B Comm LLB from the University of Stellenbosch, a Master's degree in commercial law (UCT), an Honours degree in tax (UCT), as well as a diploma in International Trade Law attained from the University of Antwerp in Belgium. She is a ranked lawyer in dispute resolution and insurance and has an excellent reputation in the market.
“We are delighted to have Kim on board to complement and reinforce our existing team of dispute resolution experts” says Christo Els, Senior Partner of Webber Wentzel.
“Together, Kim and Kathryn provide a highly specialised skillset in regulatory and liability work for audit firms that is unique in this market. Since the beginning of the year, Webber Wentzel has made 8 senior appointments - further bolstering our market leading position. Our growth strategy has been heavily focused on augmenting our already competitive client service capabilities in key practice areas such as Mergers & Acquisitions, Dispute Resolution, Banking & Finance and Tax among others. We are also exceptionally proud of the fact that Kim's hire further bolsters Webber Wentzel’s gender diversity at the most senior levels - we now have 65 female partners - representing 44% of our total partner body. This underpins our commitment to building strong, highly skilled and diversified teams,” says Els.
