Property stokvel to create investment opportunities for black communities
Submitted by: MyPressportal TeamManyike Nicolas is the CEO of Tale PR & Communications, award-winning Publicist, Artist Manager and an entrepreneur. Born and raised in Mkhuhlu, Bushbuckridge, in Mpumalanga. In 2012 he enrolled to study Business management at Sedibeng College Vanderbijlpark but had to abandon his studies because of a lack of finances.
In 2013 he relocated to the “city of gold and honey” as he describes Johannesburg, to pursue his dream of becoming PR Guru and a businessman.
“When we relocated to the city of gold, we suffered to get a place to stay, I remember with my business partner we had to make use of the Ekhaya shelter for the homeless, from that moment I knew something needs to be done”
Most skovels are created to buy groceries, especially for the festive season, and to help with funerals and debts. The young businessman initiated a property stockvel that aims to focus on buying land and properties that will generate an income for them.
“There’s no freedom without financial freedom, ownership of land and properties, how do you explain this madness as an investment? R450 000 house. R5 000 monthly installment X 12 months X 20 years or more, that's = R1, 200 000, 00. It’s even worse when the interest rates are not fixed, clearly -it’s not an investment, It is time our people realise that we can buy land and properties without depending on the banks” explains Nicolas
The stokvel, registered as Property Stockvel Investment, which will buy and rent out properties.
“The property Stockvel it’s a true radical economic transformation, we want to create wealth that will allow us to retire comfortably at an early age, but most importantly to create a legacy for the next generation. We have engaged with property experts and property Management Company that will manage the properties," he said.
"We want to buy land and properties in places where there is competitive rental income and which are close to working areas and educational institutions” he added
The unemployment rate grows dramatically and mostly affecting the youth, Manyike he encourages other young people to be entrepreneurs and surround themselves with like-minded.
“I encourage other young people to start businesses, they must not just start a business but they need to think creatively and be problem solvers by creating more jobs. Our future plan is to invest or diversify our portfolio to Agriculture and logistics” said Manyike
A person’s upbringing and where they come from do not determine one’s capabilities or where they will end up in life. One learns a lot more from making mistakes than not doing anything at all. We can use those mistakes as stepping stones to get our desired goals.
