Johannesburg, South Africa [05 February 2025] - Iress South Africa has appointed Dominic Rey as Managing Director, Wealth Management South Africa, effective from February 2026.
Dominic Rey brings more than 30 years of experience across wealth and investment management, financial markets, and financial services technology, spanning senior leadership roles at Investec, Freedom Capital, and technology-enabled wealth platforms. His appointment strengthens Iress’ commitment to deep financial services domain expertise, strong execution, and delivering greater value for wealth management clients.
Dominic Rey’s background combines deep wealth management credibility, a proven delivery and execution track record, and a strong understanding of how technology can be leveraged to improve advice, investment and operational outcomes. This intersection of financial services and technology aligns directly with Iress’ strategy to support its Wealth Management clients with software and services that are trusted, scalable and fit for purpose.
Leadership that puts clients first
Wealth management firms are navigating growing pressures, including tighter margins, evolving regulations, and rising client expectations. In this environment, decisions around technology, operations, and strategy determine who leads the market and who follows. Dominic Rey brings the experience and insight needed to help firms successfully navigate this complexity.
His depth of experience complements Iress’ approach of blending industry knowledge with technology to improve results.
“Iress continues to invest in leadership that brings deep market understanding and a strong focus on execution,” said Shaun Nicholson, CEO of Iress South Africa. “Dom’s experience strengthens our ability to partner with wealth management firms, as well as our ability to support their strategic priorities ”
Turning data into meaningful insight
One of Dominic’s visions is to turn client data into actionable insights. By streamlining compliance, reducing operational burdens, and enhancing workflow efficiency, he seeks to give advisers the tools they need to make smarter decisions. This approach shifts the focus from reporting to delivering real value to clients.
“In a market like ours, technology should make work easier, not more complicated,” said Dominic Rey, Managing Director, Wealth Management South Africa. “The wealth management industry is at an important point of change, and technology has a critical role to play in helping firms operate efficiently while meeting growing regulatory and client expectations. Ultimately, the aim is to give advisers more time to focus on meaningful client outcomes and provide services they can rely on.”
A clear and achievable growth roadmap
For his first 12 months, Dom has identified three key priorities. Ensuring platform stability and reliability will be central to enhancing customer satisfaction. He also plans to boost adviser efficiency by streamlining workflows and reducing administrative tasks. At the same time, he will define a clear vision and roadmap to drive growth in South Africa’s wealth management sector.
Dom believes that over the next two to three years, the market will continue to evolve under the pressure of consolidation, stricter regulations, and increasing competition. Rising client expectations for transparency, speed, and digital engagement will further shape the landscape. Firms that view technology as a strategic driver rather than just a compliance requirement are the ones most likely to stay ahead.
Investing in the future of wealth management
Wealth Management remains a key strategic focus for Iress in South Africa. By appointing Dominic Rey, the company strengthens its commitment to local leadership, deep industry expertise, and scalable technology solutions.
