FALKE South Africa has announced the appointment of Martin Grobbelaar as Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. Grobbelaar has been with the legwear company for the past twelve years.
Grobbelaar holds an Honours and BCom degree in Management Accounting and started at FALKE in 2003 as cost and export manager before being promoted to financial manager and later general manager. His solid financial background and exposure to all operational aspects of the group make him ideally suited to his new role.
Grobbelaar is committed to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the company and guaranteeing added value propositions to all FALKE stakeholders, including shareholders, customers and staff.
“My medium term goal is to firmly establish FALKE as the premium sock brand in South Africa. We’ll continue to embrace the brand pillars of innovation, modernity, quality, reliability and consistency on which this business was founded,” explains Grobbelaar.
FALKE South Africa is a subsidiary of the German textile giant, a fourth-generation family owned business that was founded in 1895. The South African operation was established in 1974 and currently manufactures approximately 7 million pairs of socks per year for the domestic and export market.
The company has recently made multi-million rand investment with the acquisition of state-of-the-art knitting machines to continue to push the boundaries of performance technology and aesthetic excellence. FALKE South Africa currently employs 650 people.
