The 2022 Top Employers have been announced by the Top Employer’s Institute, with Aon South Africa recognised as a Top Employer for an impressive fifth consecutive year.
The Top Employers Institute programme certifies organisations based on the participation and results of their HR Best Practices Survey. The survey covers six HR domains consisting of 20 topics including people strategy, work environment, talent acquisition, learning, well-being and diversity & inclusion and more. Being certified as a Top Employer showcases an organisation’s dedication to a better world of work and exhibits this through excellent HR policies and people practices.
Top Employers Institute CEO David Plink says: “Reflecting on the demanding past year that has impacted organisations across the world, Aon continues to show that it prioritises maintaining excellent people practices in the workplace. Aon continues to meet the challenges of the changing world of work, while working tirelessly to make a positive impact in the lives of their people. We are pleased to celebrate and applaud the organisations that have been certified as Top Employers in their respective countries this year.”
Zanele Dintwa, Head of Employee Engagement & HRBP at Aon South Africasays: “We are exceedingly proud to be named as a Top Employer for the fifth consecutive year. Over the last decade the world of work has changed dramatically for individuals and the organisations they serve. That change was rapidly propelled in the last two pandemic years with a fundamental shift in where, how and when work gets done. It’s a change that can cause a disconnect between a company and its employees.”
“Fostering a more flexible, engaged and resilient workforce demanded in a time of such profound upheaval brought about by the pandemic was a monumental task. Decisions had to be made and plans implemented on how to manage the evolving hybrid structures of work, achieve a healthier – both mentally and physically - and more inclusive team at a time when people were socially distanced and working from home. We had to find new reward structures to maximise engagement and profits, while at the same time provide the means for individuals to take more responsibility for their self-direction and outcomes. Beyond health, mental wellbeing was front and centre at a time when many of our people were experiencing devastating personal loss and uncertainty at home. We needed a fundamentally new approach on how to show and help our people stay ahead of the evolving world of work, able to embrace the importance of our shared personal and organisational ambitions, while at the same time supporting them through their own challenges in their personal lives. When we look back on the past two years, the pandemic has been without a doubt, the most radical social experiment in the world of work, in our lifetimes,” says Zanele.
“Achieving the recognition as Top Employer 2022 at this time is testimony to our commitment as a business to navigating new forms of volatility, and building a resilient workforce. Our fundamental belief, our higher order aim as a business, is to shape business decisions for the better - to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. Our employees are a fundamental part of this purpose. We know that valuable client relationships grow out of great client service relationships driven by motivated and focused employees. It’s the key reason why Aon’s focus is on delivering a colleague experience where our people are more relevant, more connected and more valued in ways that enable them to achieve their full professional potential. Its about empowering them to be better informed, better advised and able to make better decisions that ultimately enables them to make a meaningful impact for clients and society,” concludes Zanele.
