CFI Financial Group, a leading global online trading provider, will be hosting the next edition of its Five Essential Pillars for Online Trading Success seminar on 7 August at The Venue in Melrose Arch, following a successful launch event in Johannesburg that drew strong attendance and positive feedback from aspiring traders.
The debut seminar was led by veteran market strategist Howard Friend, who guided participants through the building blocks of online trading, including technical and fundamental analysis, risk management, trading psychology, and strategy development.
The session covered what Friend calls the “Five Essential Pillars” of successful trading: understanding financial markets, getting to grips with key asset classes like forex, stocks, and commodities, mastering analysis tools, building a sound trading strategy, and developing the mental discipline to stick to it. He also walked participants through the MT5 trading platform, explaining how spreads work, what moves markets, and why risk management is non-negotiable.
"You can master every chart pattern and indicator out there, but if you cannot control your emotions, the market will find your weakness," said Friend. "The best traders are not just technically skilled but are mentally prepared, consistent, and disciplined under pressure."
For many attendees, it was the first time trading concepts had been presented in such an accessible and practical way.
“What I have taken from the CFI seminar is that you need education before anything,” said attendee Jnr Nkagiseng Prince Amogelnag Mzondeki. “It is important to observe, learn, digest, and practice before trading.”
CFI Financial Group has long advocated that real financial empowerment begins with education, not speculation.
"It is incredibly encouraging to see how eager South Africans are to learn,” said Zihaad Israfil, CEO of CFI Financial South Africa. “Trading is a skill, not a gamble. We’re proud to support those taking their first steps with confidence and the right mindset.”
Following the seminar’s success, CFI plans to continue rolling out seminars and webinars, and encourages new traders to practise in its free demo environment, which is a safe, no-risk way to build skills before trading live.
CFI invites new and aspiring traders to join the next free seminar on 7 August, once again hosted by Howard Friend. Registration is now open online.
