Cuba is every colour! Sometimes in a tired and weakened shade, but colour exists everywhere. The clothes, the houses, the cars, the fingernails and the cafes. “Havana Folk”, love colour. The shops are a cheerful and inviting shade of pink, the sea is a clear and vibrant aqua, the billboards are vivid in red and blue, the architecture muted hues of life. Wear shades of Havanna to this summer fiesta.

The Sunflower Fund’s annual Gala Dinner will be nothing less than spectacular this year. For the past 14 years the fund has successfully hosted an annual fundraising event, each raising in excess of R400 000.00 for their most valuable cause.

A survivors quote, “How can you thank someone who has saved your life”. According to the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR), every year hundreds of South Africans with blood diseases such as leukaemia, reach the point where their only chance of survival is a stem cell transplant. The main problem is finding a compatible stem cell donor.

The Sunflower Fund educates and registers stem cell donors. We raise funds to cover the recruitment costs to grow an effective ethnically diverse South African Bone Marrow Registry of healthy, committed donors.

The Cuban Night Gala event is a tribute to all involved with The Sunflower Fund. Strong, positive and passionate about life & their ability to overcome adversity, words that best describe the Cuban sentiment & the collective of people at The Sunflower Fund.

Each year, the popular gala event not only is an opportunity to celebrate life, it is an invitation to make a difference to people’s lives in a way that is priceless.
