What do Mad Hatter Garden Party, Cedar Garden B&B Brunch, Paddy's Bake Sale at SPAR, Mountainairs Braai, Soup and Rolls, Bridge, Ringstead Long Lunch Table, SPAR and Mountain Biking, Takkies, dinner parties, toddlers play morning, Bible Study lunch party, Pam Golding Cocktail Party, Polo Way residents, Mike's Restaurant and the Scott's Lamb on the Spit have in common? Well, as the district of Underberg and Himeville knows, these words are part of the huge, fantastic response to the Come Dine With Me for Pevensey fundraising initiative. It has been heart warming for the organisers, the committee and the resident's and staff of Pevensey Place to see how fantastic the response has been. Funds raised have exceeded all expectations and already over R40 000.00 has been totalled up. After each function, the envelopes and boxes have been opened followed by huge squeals of delight and peals of gay laughter as the proceeds from each function are added up.

Each and every function has been a success, not only because of the money raised but because it has bought about a new awareness of Pevensey, the history it has with our district, and the 76 lovely residents who call it home. The residents of Pevensey have always felt like an important part of our community and so enjoy being included in the goings on. They celebrate their 40th birthday this year. The Sani Roud Table have played a significant role in the success of Pevensey as a home from home for celebral palsied adults. Pevensey is a working farm and the residents are given work to do according to their abilities. The staff are special people too as each and every residents care is well planned and thought out.

Heartfelt thank you to all those have hosted a function and to all those who have attended these functions and made donations. Mike Moncur of Mike's Restaurant has said that this event will be an annual fundraiser for him and next year is sure to be booked out well in advance as those of us who attended were spoilt with the menu, seafood starter, fillet steak and dessert!
