Make your voice count and Vote4Charity
Submitted by: MyPressportal TeamMySchool MyVillage MyPlanet has kicked off with their national Vote4Charity survey campaign, asking supporters to vote for their favourite charity. The survey doesn’t just provide insights into the kind of charities that South Africans love to support, but is also an opportunity for card holders to win money for their chosen charities.
In 2014, 28 497 South Africans particpated in the Vote4Charity campaign with 54% of votes going towards charities that help people (MyVillage) and 46% went to charities supporting animals and the environment (MyPlanet). Different provinces showed their alliances to different charities, with CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation getting the most votes nationally.
In 2015, the Village or Planet charity with the most votes will received R70 000 cash towards the work they do on a daily basis. Second place will receive R35 000 and third place R25 000. There is also a prize of R10 000 each for fourth to tenth place totalling over R200 000 in prizes.
There is a selection of over 450 charities to vote for. To find out who they are, click here. Everyone is only allowed to cast their vote once to help their favourite charity win. Polls close on Friday, 22 May and as an added bonus, each voter gets entered into a competition to win a R10 000 Woolworths gift card.
