From Northriding to Pretoria and many stops in between, Consol Glass has been spreading #MilkStacheSmiles while handing out special Consol bottles filled with farm fresh milk to 12 Gauteng charities. A mix of old age and children’s homes, the charities were nominated by the glass manufacturer’s social media fans in a #BringBackPure CSI milk bottlecampaign. The milk bottle deliveries were an extension of the group’s 70th birthday, so it was decided to supplement the deliveries with cupcakes – after all no celebration is complete without fresh, home-baked cake!
Consol spent two full days on the road, visiting each of the charities – meeting the staff and connecting with residents. In the end close on 1 000 glass milk bottles and cupcakes were handed out. To make it more special, and nostalgic of the era when milk was delivered door to door by the milkman, the deliveries were fronted by the Consol milkmen. Understandably, each visit elicited much excitement among the residents who seldom receive visitors – much less gifts.According to Consol project spokesperson, Cleo Madini, the experience can only be described as humbling and it was a real privilege to meet so many inspiring people.
Glass packaging keeps what’s inside colder and fresher for longer and because it’s pure packaging, it contains no chemicals, so it never alters the taste or purity of its contents. “Institutions rely heavily on funding and support – they face real financial challenges and our milk deliveries provided nutritional relief, as well as sweet treats for people who so seldom are on the receiving end of a spoiling; timeless gifts that will keep on giving long after the milk is enjoyed,” says Madini.
Consol hopes that through this change for good CSI campaign – it will have made a small difference to those who are cared for by: The Lighthouse Baby Shelter; Door of Hope; Hearts of Hope; Miracles Mission Children’s Home; Avril Elizabeth Home; SAVF Huis Silversig; Gateway Village; Nazareth House; Bethany Home; Uitkoms Home for Girls; Frank Mynhardt and Vosloorus Home.
