In a collaborative effort to address pressing community needs, Compass Insure, alongside its specialist partners, have successfully contributed to the Chefs with Compassion #67000litres for Mandela Day Challenge. The collaboration resulted in raising funds to supply a substantial 50,000 litres of clean, bottled water to Chefs with Compassion's soup kitchens, significantly exceeding the initial target of 25,000 litres. This accomplishment is a testament to the shared commitment of both organisations to providing essential aid in these challenging times.
MD of Compass Insure, Ismail Ismail, reflected on the initiative, saying: "Given the current issues with water outages and shortages, Compass Insure chose to execute a water drive for our Mandela Day campaign this year, in the hope of assisting community kitchens to deliver meals when tap runs dry. Compass Insure specialist partners have always been generous in their donations in previous years and, this year, with the help of our partners, we’ve collected 50,000 litres of water. Water is a critical need and we can all immediately identify with the severe struggles of having to do without it. We have enjoyed a long relationship with Chefs with Compassion and the work done by CWC inspires confidence in us and our partners of the support that beneficiaries receive through CWC. Whilst we trust that the water collected will provide some ease, we hope that it also highlights the dire need in disadvantaged communities and motivates all of us to find longer-term solutions for water issues."
This initiative aligns with the enduring spirit of Mandela Day, where every small gesture of goodwill is celebrated and used to change the world for the better. By doubling their original goal and providing 50,000 litres of clean water, Compass Insure, along with their specialist partners, have demonstrated a remarkable act of kindness, compassion, and collaboration.
Chef James Khoza, chairman of Chefs with Compassion, says, “Compass Insure has provided a lifeline to Chefs with Compassion through some of the most difficult times since its inception, and we are grateful for this caring company’s ongoing support.”
This year, Chefs with Compassion significantly surpassed its ambitious goal of preparing 67,000 litres of soup for Mandela Day 2023. A staggering 104,360 litres of soup was prepared by 114 registered participants, which included a diverse array of cooks, chefs, community caterers, NPOs, individuals, and corporates.
