The day Twitter (and the earth) came to a standstill.

Tuesday, 19 January 2016. 10.30am: Dear Diary! Everyone’s down, because Twitter is! #twitterdown Does this sound like you on the 19th of January? If you’re as connected as everyone else, then you undoubtedly had a life-changing experience when Twitter made history and dared to be down for a large part of the day.
How dare you, Twitter! Yes, Twitter is the place where everyone likes to dispose of their daily rants and rages about life, love and everything else, and it only took one single day for this social network giant to experience a 50% plunge in its stock share value as a result of this downtime! This social media’s reliability has also come under some harsh scrutiny. And even more inconvenient, angry Twitter members couldn’t even tweet about their outrage!
Of course, when you rely on online services, you grow to expect 24/7 connectivity and access, and we’re sure that Twitter will be hearing (or reading tweets) about this for a very long time to come! The questions, of course, are endless as to why this happened, but the two biggest questions we at iLead Online would like to know are: Was Twitter’s few hours of virtual sabbatical acceptable? What is the reason behind it and will there be more days like this to come? Heaven forbid!
While it felt like the end of times caused Twitter’s outage, it’s actually rumoured to be the result of an “internal error” or “over capacity”. These were the error messages that Twitter users were faced with while trying to access the service.
iLead Online, on the other hand, would like to know the real reason – let’s tweet about it! #whytwitterwhy!
