New Yorker blogsite gets the hits from South Africa
Written by: Soekershof Walkabout Save to Instapaper{pp}The blogsite Timbuktu Chronicles, compiled by New York entrepreneur Emeka Ekafor and which is fully dedicated to the African continent, is experiencing numerous hits from South Africa. The blogsite turns out to be an excellent marketing tool for one of the most unusual tourism attractions of this country.
Ekafor published an item about the mazes and gardens of Soekershof Walkabout in Robertson in the Western Cape (see: timbuktuchronicles.blogspot.com/2007/03/soekershof-walkabout.html ). When co-owner Herman van Bon of Soekershof was attended to this blog by a business relation he e-mailed all his regular and recent South African visitors to leave a comment. "First of all I thought it to be a nice gesture to our guests to make them aware of a nice informative blogsite about this fascinating continent. I did not expect any comments at all. And surely not all those positive ones towards Soekershof".Van Bon thinks of using all the comments as part of a marketing strategy. "From all these comments we also learn that this area is not always' tourist friendly. It still has to discover its own potential. In our marketing efforts we always try to promote the whole area as a destination regardless competition and other narrowminded issues which often seem a breaking point in relativily small communities. If you want to brand a region as a tourist destination you will have to leave politics out. With all these comments we hope to make a point when promoting of this beautiful area is again on the agenda of the annual meeting of the local tourism bureau".Contact Details:Klaas Voogds West, P.O.
