MetroFibre Brings Affordable Fibre Connectivity to Beaufort West
MetroFibre has opened its seventh Fibre Experience Store in Beaufort West, marking another step forward in its mission to bridge the digital divide and make high-speed, affordable internet available to more South Africans in underserved communities.
Beaufort West represents MetroFibre’s first Experience Store launch in the Western Cape, with further openings planned in 2026. The new store located at the Karoo Junction Mall in Beaufort West joins MetroFibre’s growing network of community-based Experience Stores in KwaThema, Steeldale, Thembisa and Riverside View in Gauteng, and New Brighton and Zwide in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.
“Fast, reliable internet should be available to everyone,” says Lebang Mosimanegape, Business Owner: Emerging Markets at MetroFibre. “A fundamental driver behind MetroFibre’s Experience stores is to support and drive economic growth and digital inclusion in underserved towns and communities across South Africa. Our Experience Stores are community hubs that connect people to opportunity - from education and jobs to small business growth. Every new connection represents a home or business gaining access to tools that can change lives.”
Speaking at the official opening of the store on 27 March, Executive Mayor Georgina Duimpies emphasised the importance of reliable, affordable internet connectivity for the people of Beaufort West.
“This new MetroFibre Experience Store is an important development for Beaufort West and for the people of our town. Reliable, affordable internet connectivity is not a luxury - it is essential for education, job seeking, doing business, accessing information, service delivery and staying connected in today’s world. For communities that have historically been underserved, infrastructure like this helps to open the door to greater inclusion, opportunity and local economic participation. We welcome MetroFibre’s investment in Beaufort West and the positive impact it can have in helping our residents, entrepreneurs and young people participate more fully in the digital economy,” said Executive Mayor Georgina Duimpies.
Empowering Communities Through Connectivity
MetroFibre’s expansion into underserved areas is already transforming communities. Across its seven Experience Store locations, the network now passes more than 90 000 homes, with 24.8% already connected - proof of the growing appetite for affordable, high-speed fibre.
At the MetroFibre Experience Store, residents and businesses can:
Test Wi-Fi speeds and explore service packagesGet technical support and customer assistanceAccess free Wi-Fi during power and network outagesRequest statements and pay the monthly month-to-month bill at the store and get back online immediatelyRecharge prepaid accounts
MetroFibre offers flexible options to suit different budgets and needs, from month-to-month fibre-to-the-home plans to the MetroConnect prepaid solution, a pay-as-you-go 20/40/60 Mbps service with no contracts or long-term commitments.
“Families are seeing the savings and reliability that fibre offers,” explains Lebang. “It’s fast, uncapped, and supports multiple users and devices - for school, work, streaming, and staying in touch.”
Creating Local Opportunities
True to its community-first approach, MetroFibre recruits Experience store employees from the local area, creating valuable job opportunities while ensuring customers receive service from people who understand their specific needs and challenges.
The store also supports the current SMMEs from Beaufort West who are selling and installing fibre, in addition to the field sales agents already working in the area.
The Store is located at the Karoo Junction Mall, Bird Street, Beaufort West and operates weekdays from 09:00 to 18:00, Saturday and public holidays from 09:00 to 13:00, and closed on Sundays.
MetroFibre’s expansion reflects its broader commitment to digital inclusion and economic empowerment - giving communities access to the tools and opportunities that drive education, entrepreneurship, and social progress in a connected world.
