PLAY-AT-HOME CAMPAIGN DELIVERS JOY DURING LOCKDOWN

City of Cape Town (24 April 2020) - It is in the spirit of seeing people reconnecting through play and staying entertained during lockdown, that Unplug Yourself has secured and donated over R 200 000 worth of board games and toys to those less fortunate.  This donation of board games and toys will benefit over 30 children’s homes in the City of Cape Town, from Athlone to Khayelitsha. This donation will be distributed to the recipients in partnership with Disaster Management and the City of Cape Town.

Alderman JP Smith was at Leliebloem House - Child & Youth Centre to do the honours in distributing the first of the games and toys to help bring some joy and edutainment to the lives of young people during lockdown.

Unplug Yourself’s #PlayAtHome campaign is a social movement established in response to the coronavirus lockdown currently experienced in South Africa. The campaign aims to share the joys of play with South Africans from all walks of life, who is looking for ways to stay entertained during social distancing and lockdown. It is our firm belief that board games and all their benefits will create fond memories; memories which will long outlast the difficulties faced during lockdown.

Unplug Yourself would like to urge all South Africans under lockdown to join the #PlayAtHome Facebook Group and to show us what you are playing during lockdown.
