Time to smell the roses with GardenShop FloraFarm’s 2016 Rose Show

Published: 25 October 2016

In conjunction with exhibiting rosarians, Ludwig’s Roses, GardenShop FloraFarm will bloom with colour from 28 to 30 October 2016 from 9am to 12pm for its annual Rose Show. The garden retailer and nursery will be transformed into a realm of beautiful rose varietals including hybrid teas, floribundas and miniatures as well as climbers, shrub roses and old garden rose varieties.

Bearing buds in some of the most interesting shades of blooms such as orange, yellow, peach, pink and red, they add fragrance and colour both in and out of your home. Choose your favourite from a vast selection including ‘Double Delight’, ‘Just Joey’, ‘Germiston Gold’, ‘Little Pink Hedge’ and ‘Esther Geldenhuys’.

In addition to the flower display, Halmar Taschner from Ludwig’s Roses will host a discussion on roses and rose-growers can consult the rose expert on rose selection and care from 9am to 10am on the Saturday leg of the event.

Thereafter, let your creativity flourish with Greg Williams, senior décor stylist and merchandiser at GardenShop, who will assemble intricate bouquets and flower arrangements from 11am to 12pm.

Also exhibiting, Ball Straathof’s range of organic rose care products, fungicides, insecticides and fertilisers will be on display.

Visit ‘Thorns ‘n Things’, a boutique stall offering rose products designed and created by the Taschner sisters, Heike and Anja to complement the magnificence that the rose already exudes in the garden. The body and home collection includes hand creams, body lotion and linen spray. For the ‘foodies’, there are rose petal jams, rose scented turkish delight, rosewater syrups, rosehip chutney as well as selection of other gifts and accessories on sale.

Rose lovers, avid gardeners, landscapers and plant growers are encouraged to make the most of the experience by stocking up on garden-related merchandise. GardenShop will offer a 25% discount on all roses for the duration of the Rose Show.

2016 Clivia Show will captivate with vivid blooms on display at GardenShop FloraFarm

Published: 05 September 2016

GardenShop FloraFarm will be transformed into a realm of clivia colour on Saturday, 10 to Sunday, 11 September 2016 from 9am to 11am, where crowds will gather to view a floral exhibition with over 50 varieties of the exquisite flowers.

Commonly called South Africa’s bush lily, clivias are the most spectacular indigenous spring flowers and produce some of the most interesting shades of blooms with variations of apricot, cream, pale yellow, peach, and pink.

During the showcase, Paul Kloeck of Clivia Kingdom will host a discussion on ‘Basic Clivia Care’ from 10am to 11am. The ‘king of clivias’, Kloeck is based in Curlews Valley near Nelspruit, which homes 20 000 clivias and is the ideal habitat due to the balance of soil, light and shade.

Visitors to the Clivia Show can also interact with green industry partners Atlantic Fertilisers, Ball Straathoff and Protek, while learning about feeding, growing, planting and maintaining the flowers.

Avid gardeners and plant growers are encouraged to make the most of the experience by stocking up on garden-related merchandise at the most competitive prices during operating hours: 8am to 5pm.

To make an enquiry, contact Narisha Baignath at FloraFarm on 011 894 2377/8. Entry is free of charge.
