Daschund Day is here again

Submitted by: Sarann Buckby

Did you know that Daschunds as a breed are funny, playful and loyal? These pets are even more adorable when they come out in their numbers at the annual Daschund Day Celebrations that will take place on Saturday 11 August 2012 at the Brightwater Commons in Randburg.

Imagine it now, a puppy relay event, the golden oldies strutting their stuff, finding out who is the fast daschie in the land and of course puppies parading in dress up. There are some exciting prizes to be won. The Breed (beauty) Show begins at 12:00, so make sure you book your spot. Daschund Day is a day of entertainment for the whole family and is a great time to bond with your two and four-legged friends.

Besides being a day of fun, this event is also about educating the public. “Most people are not aware that although Daschunds are small, they are hard wired to hunt, dig and bark”, says Liz Chamberlain of the Miniature Daschund Club, “and despite their stubborn nature, they can be trained. I’m looking forward to seeing the community coming out in full force- paws and all”.

Please remember that on the day there will be poop bags available, but every owner will be expected to keep his dog on lead and provide water and bowls to keeps the dogs refreshed.

Registration begins at 10:30, and the fun events begin at 11:00 so should you wish to participate don’t be late!
