Upgrade your home theatre for the ultimate entertainment experience

Upgrade your home theatre for the ultimate entertainment experience

Many of us may consider our TV area/lounge or home theatre, as a close friend and big part of the family. Especially after the last few months of lockdown and distancing has made an at-home entertainment essential for our well-being. With some simple upgrades you can optimise your entertainment experience and there is no better time than now.  Speaker placement is crucial.

Avoid spreading your speakers to the four corners of the room, rather place them on either side of your TV angled towards the couch. Surround sound speakers should be placed behind you for the surround sound effects. Aim for matching speaker makes. Ideally have one brand of speakers instead of a combination, as they each have their own specific way of interacting with sound and this helps to ensure similar performance and tonality to give you the immersive experience that you are looking for. Klipsch and Monitor Audio are both speaker specialists who offer a wide range of options for various installation and performance requirements.

Don’t underestimate the value of a subwoofer as it is responsible for the depth of the sound.

If you like to feel the impact of that musical crescendo or be blown away by the explosion in an action movie then a subwoofer is a must. The subwoofer is the hardest working speaker in your surround sound system and often times the performance for the system as a whole, is dependent on the performance (and integration with the rest of the speakers) of the subwoofer.

Remember, bigger is not always better, the SVS range of subwoofers pack a mean punch! Your amplifier provides the power to your speakers and is an essential component as an amplifier like Denon’s range of AV receivers, can give even mediocre speakers a new life. Take into consideration your room size when adding or upgrading your amp. The Denon AVR’s also offer Audyssey Room correction to help you get the best setup and calibration of your system.

Good acoustics can make all the difference and is a big part of upgrading your sound system. Walls, ceilings, and windows are flat, hard surfaces which create sound distortion. To solve this problem, soften the hard surfaces in the room by adding textures such as curtains, carpets, or rugs and which can be enough to ensure the room sounds good.

You are looking for a natural sound, not too much reverberation (like in a bathroom) and not too dead. If you can hold a conversation with someone in the room and their voice does not sound funny or loose intelligibility, you have a good start to a great room.

Warren Husband from Homemation suggests that if you really want the most out of your AV system consider adding a power conditioner like the Pakedge Power distribution units. These not only get the best out of your system by ensuring clean power to the units but also offer surge protection to protect your investment from power spikes.  A few key changes will make all the difference to give you the ultimate home entertainment experience
