THE MATCH IN AFRICA 6 - OFFICIAL MATCH IN AFRICA TICKETS TO GO ON SALE 04 SEPTEMBER 2019

Johannesburg, 02 September 2019 – The much-anticipated match between the two tennis icons Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal is set to take place at the Cape Town Stadium in Cape Town on 07 February 2020. Tickets start at ZAR 150 or 11 USD, making the event accessible to as many tennis fans in South Africa as possible, with various hospitality packages also available. Official tickets sales open via Computicket at 09h00 on 04 September.  In addition to offering South African fans a once in a lifetime experience in their home country, the event has a deeper purpose - to channel all profits to the Roger Federer Foundation’s educational efforts in rural areas in Southern Africa.

The Foundation focusses on education, as this is one of the most powerful means of change in a person’s life.  With a focus on the improvement of the quality of early learning, the Foundation works with local communities and leaders to affect change at a grassroots level.

The Match in Africa is the 6th edition of this event, but the first to be played in Africa. As an entertainment extravaganza, the event will feature a celebrity curtain-raiser match, local entertainers, interactive fun with the crowd, a world record attempt to set the world record for most attendees at a tennis match- and the highlight – the match between 20-time Grand Slam Champion Roger Federer and 18-time Grand Slam Champion and rival Rafael Nadal.

The Match in Africa is presented by ROLEX, and Credit Suisse is one of the official sponsors. The net proceeds of the Exhibition Night will go to the Roger Federer Foundation.

About the Roger Federer Foundation

For more than fifteen years the Roger Federer Foundation has been engaging in charitable programs in Africa and Switzerland giving children a good start in education. Over one million children have benefited from the interventions. The foundation only works with carefully selected local organizations in long-term partnerships and seeks to bring about systemic change and have a sustainable impact. It aims therefore to enable and empower the local population to assume responsibility for finding solutions to problems while also determining the content, organization and finances of these solutions. The Foundation is running School Readiness Initiatives in Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Switzerland at a cost over $8 million annually reaching more than 2,000 primary schools and preschools.
