New Lync server-qualified IP phone from Duxbury Networking

Now available from Duxbury Networking is the latest iteration of the Snom 760 Series, part of the range of business VoIP (Voice over IP) phones offered by the specialist distributor.

Targeted at users in large office environments, the Microsoft Lync server-qualified Snom 760 is an advanced, enterprise-class phone for desktop applications featuring Gigabit switch capabilities and multiple programmable buttons complemented by a range of popular standard business functions.

“These include automatic provisioning, wireless LAN connectivity and Snom’s high-end, wideband speaker and microphone audio system for crystal clear, high-definition voice quality,” says Andy Robb, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking.   Being Microsoft Lync server-qualified, the Snom 760 is equipped with the infrastructure required for enterprise instant messaging, VoIP messaging, as well as ad hoc and structured conferences (audio, video and web conferencing) together with Telkom connectivity through a third-party gateway or SIP trunk.

According to Robb, managing the Snom 760 – or any Snom Lync-qualified phone – on a Lync server is a simple task. “The first step is to define the required settings such as language, time zone and function keys, then run a Lync PowerShell script to create a new policy, and finally assign the created policy to users, groups and locations via the PowerShell software.”

Other key features of the Snom 760 Series include its ability to transfer data at speeds of up to 1000 Megabits-per-second without slowing down the network to which it is attached or compromising a connected PC.   A large, high-resolution colour display, PBX-style keys and two USB ports facilitating a variety of connectivity options are supported by Bluetooth connectivity via an optional USB stick, giving users the freedom to use any compatible Bluetooth headset with the phone. The Snom 760’s foot stand has two positions - at 33° and 55° angles - which can be set and changed without tools.   The unit, which comes in a dark grey colour said to complement the typical office environment, also features an ergonomically-designed handset grip designed to increase operator friendliness by providing silent pickup and return of the handset.

The Snom 760 is available from Duxbury Networking at R 2490-00 ex VAT.
