Finding jobs now as easy as 'eCV'

Internet and mobile recruitment solutions specialist, eCVmobile (eCV), has announced the launch of an exciting mobile phone-based service for job seekers. By registering for free on the eCVmobile website www.ecvmobile.co.za, individuals can apply for jobs and be notified about opportunities by SMS.
“Many potential employees find it difficult to apply for advertised positions because they don’t have regular access to the Internet or to a fax machine,” says entrepeneur Silindokuhle ‘Lindo’ Ngcobo, the bright spark behind eCVmobile. “Let’s say, though, that someone is sitting on a bus and sees the ideal job in the newspaper. With eCVmobile, they can apply for the job right there and then by simply sending an SMS to an eCVmobile short code. The eCV system then sends the applicant’s CV to an e-mail address that is specified in the SMS. Now, job seekers can apply for any job, anywhere, anytime.”

eCVmobile has coined the term “CV-SMXing” to describe the innovative process that allows job seekers to e-mail their CV to a recruiter via SMS. All that job seekers need to do to be able to SMX their CVs is to register on the eCVmobile website. After providing their details on the website, they will be sent an SMS confirming their registration, along with a unique CV ID number that needs to be referenced when SMXing.

When they have registered, job seekers can create personalised CVs by completing a quick but comprehensive online form. eCV will then generate a professional CV which will be stored on the site, but which can also can be downloaded free, with or without cover letter, for private use. Job seekers can then access their stored CVs to apply for jobs on the eCVmobile website or, when offline, no matter where they are or what they are doing, by SMX.

Registered eCV users can also alert their friends and family to job opportunities by using eCV’s SMS-based job referral service. Each job that is advertised on the eCVmobile website contains a brief job description which can be sent in SMS format to the mobile phones of both eCV and non-eCV subscribers, directly from the website.

And for skilled job seekers who may not be actively seeking employment there is Passive Hunt – an eCV service that allows recruiters to search through the eCV database and contact potential job candidates directly via SMS. Job seekers can then choose to contact the relevant recruiter or to simply ignore the SMS, giving them control over which recruiter they engage with regarding a potential job opportunity.

“The key word is CONVENIENCE,” enthuses Ngcobo. “CV-SMXing is the most convenient offline method of applying for jobs. With Passive Hunt and SMS-based job referral, job seekers are able to access a range of employment opportunities effortlessly.”

“eCVmobile is revolutionising the Internet recruitment industry. And more exciting innovative services are in the pipeline,” adds Zakhe Khuzwayo, eCVmobile’s co-founder, who is quick to point out that eCV is not a placement/recruitment agency. As Khuzwayo explains, eCV acts as a conduit between job seekers and recruitment agencies or companies, providing original recruitment solutions to both ends of the market.

That dream job is now only an SMX away. Simply create your personalised CV and cover/motivation letter by registering at www.eCVmobile.co.za and start browsing the site’s library of jobs, which you can apply for online. But remember that you do not need to be online to apply for a job. If you see a job that you’d like to apply for, simply SMX — it’s as easy as ‘eCV’. All eCVmobile services are free to job seekers, with the exception of CV-SMXing, which costs only R1.50 per SMS.

Notes to Editors

eCVmobile – the sole division of eNamisa MDM (Pty) Ltd – is a 100% black-owned provider of Internet and mobile recruitment solutions. The company acts as a conduit for the submission of CVs/resumes to companies specified by a job seeker, as well as being a CV portal for recruiters looking for staff to hire or place (in the case of personnel agencies). By integrating Internet with SMS technology, eCV provides effective recruitment solutions for the benefit of job seekers and recruiters. eCVmobile is owned by two entrepreneurs – Lindo Ngcobo and Zakhe Khuzwayo – who spotted an untapped business opportunity in the job market.
