AllLife was recognized last night by the global business community when awarded the overall winner in the BITC (Business in the Community) Prince of Wales Unilever Global Development Award in London last night.  Ross Beerman, CEO AllLife Group, accepted the award at a gala dinner held at Prince Albert Hall in London in front of thousands of UK and global business leaders.  Commenting after accepting the award, Ross Beerman said: “Although we know that we have real impact on people’s lives every single day, at AllLife our impact is not as a result of a CSI programme, rather we have embedded the philosophy of having real impact into the core of our business DNA. We are a social impact firm in the truest sense, in that we cannot operate profitably without having an immense positive impact on our clients and society. It is nice to realise that when we do tell our story, others take notice, and recognise the positive effect that we are having on South African society, along with a real and material impact on our clients’ lives”

The Business in the Community’s Responsible Business Awards celebrate the powerful and positive role of business in society. The Awards are the most prestigious and respected corporate responsibility awards, set up to identify and celebrate businesses of all sizes in the UK and abroad whose programs are tackling key social and environmental issues to create a fairer society and more sustainable future for all. Now in its 18th year, the Responsible Business Awards are rigorously assessed by independent peers from businesses and other industry experts.  The awards are widely acknowledged as one of the most respected endorsements of responsible business, supported by the Prince of Wales responsible business network.

AllLife, a South African provider of insurance to people with HIV, has pioneered an approach that proves it is possible to insure underserved and discriminated segments of society, and to do so in a financially and socially sustainable way. AllLife’s innovative pioneering products use a continuous underwriting approach to deliver affordable cover to people living with HIV and diabetes who manage their health appropriately. We routinely remind our policyholders of their health commitments, and alert them to potential health concerns. This unique approach to life insurance means AllLife walks a lifelong journey with clients, helping clients stay healthy and driving improvements in longevity.

Stephen Howard, Chief Executive, Business in the Community said: “The Responsible Business Awards give much needed visibility to organisations who are putting responsible behaviour at the heart of how they do business.  The award winners are each playing their part to create a fairer society and more sustainable future by bringing to life the practical role that businesses can take to address some of our most pressing issues. We congratulate AllLife South Africa for being an inspirational example for others to learn from.”
