Online Art Website Dedicated to Personalising Art for Families

Online Art website dedicated to personalising art for families looking for something different in Johannesburg. July 22, 2012 – POP ART Your Family announces the launch of their new web site, PopArtYourFamily.com, an online art shop for a new generation of consumers looking to put a personal mark on the artwork they purchase and display.

PopArtYourFamily.com is a virtual space where visitors who purchase art have the opportunity to personalise their art by having their digital photos converted into vibrant Pop Art printed onto canvas.

The process is simple. When a site visitor makes a purchase, they will be prompted to supply a digital picture of a hubby, wife, child or pet. PopArtYourFamily.com will use any instructions you send them to develop your personal artwork or you can leave it up to their pool of talented graphic artists.

PopArtYourFamily.com use real life artists to develop each pop art portrait and don’t make use of one-click pop art apps. Packaging and delivery costs will be assessed by the complexity of the artwork and destination of each piece but generally delivery is free within the Johannesburg area.

Pop Art Your Family is the creation of Craig Tennant, an entrepreneur in Johannesburg. Craig employs local digital canvas printers and struggling young graphic designers.

Craig completed a postgraduate degree in Economics from Rhodes Uiversity in 2006 and was recently accepted into the 2011 - 2012 Masters in Finance class at the University of Johannesburg. Craig has always had an entrepreneurial spirit and never experienced conflict in re-conciliating his love for art and passion for finance and economics.

“The flexibility to personalise your art, and having a direct input into the creative process will define the way the generation ‘Y’ consume art” says Craig. “Technology is changing the art consumer, and the art consumer will change the way art is created” Getting ahead of the generation ‘Y’ consumer will mean a new way of securing direct access to an art product that can be personalise using technology. For Craig Tennant this means getting the customer involved in the artistic process.

NEW BEGINNING

Craig has worked at the financial giant Standard Bank for the last six years. During this time he grew a fascination for Art. Standard Bank has always been recognized as a leading sponsor of the arts for many years. “Being surrounded by an impressive art collection on a daily basis, as well as being in the employment of an organisation that actively supports the art was a major inspiration for the idea of creating an online art shop and www.PopArtYourFamily.com was born.

CONSUMERISM TECHNOLOGY AND GENERATION ‘Y’

Craig says that while there are a few online Art galleries (and galleries with online portals) in South Africa, none provide a personalised touch by converting your own digital pictures into art. He decided that this niche offered his business plan an edge. Because technology is changing the consumer, the consumer will change the way online galleries produce and sell art.

“I think the growing influence of online access mixed with technology will further drive a rift between the way art is created, personalised and ultimately consumed by the generation ‘Y’ consumer and the way other older generations consume Art over the next 5 years,” he says.
