MWEB WiFi Virtual Wine Tour recognised at the 2014 Assegai Awards

The stimulating MWEB WiFi Virtual Wine Tour was recently recognised at the Assegai Integrated Marketing Awards with a Silver Assegai in the category: Face to Face Activations/Field Marketing, the highest honour awarded in the category

The virtual tour ‘transported’ guests at the 2014 Delicious International Food & Music Festival, via ‘live streaming’, to the Cape Winelands.

“Projects such as the MWEB WiFi Virtual Wine Tour are essential to our brand proposition as they demonstrate to ‘connected’ consumers how instant; uninterrupted access to their online world, enhances their life and social experiences,” said MWEB WiFi Head: Marketing, Siphiwe Thabethe.

Festival goers were invited to visit the high-tech MWEB WiFi Cube and listen to tasting notes from top hand-selected wine estates and enjoy samples of their finest varieties while immersed by the sights, sounds and smells of the winery. This was achieved by augmenting the environment with rolling footage taken at the relevant wineries and displayed on HD curved LED panels with projection mapping on the tasting table. The gentle rustling of the trees could be heard behind the narrator who guided participants through the sensory elements of the samples they tasted at the time. To enhance the experience subtle aromas were added to the environment, for instance when the narrator referred to citrus top notes, the room was filled with a faint trace of orange spice. The Virtual Wine Tour was achieved using MWEB WiFi’s superior, fast uncapped WiFi Zone solution.
