Grande Provence Appoints New Executive Chef

Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate, Franschhoek has appointed Darren Badenhorst as its new Executive Chef in charge of The Restaurant, The Jonkershuis and its award-winning The Owner’s Cottage on the Estate.

Comments General Manager Amanda Roberts, “Darren has been part of the team, in the position as Sous Chef, for some time and his knowledge of the culinary style at Grande Provence and indeed Huka Retreats makes him the ideal person to take over this position. We are all looking forward to Darren working closely with our Winemaker Jaco Marais to create interesting food and wine synergies.”

States Darren, “Chefs with vision inspire me, those that push the boundaries of cuisine to take their guests on a culinary journey of food and wine. His culinary style is fine dining French cuisine with an Asian twist and of course his own unique touch as a main ingredient.

He is passionate not only about the fairest Cape but the enormous culinary choices a Chef and indeed public can experience throughout the Western Cape. Darren works closely with Michelin star Chef Michel Louws from Huka Lodge in New Zealand, Grande Provence’s sister property, sharing culinary knowledge and ideas to raise both fine establishments to their full potential.
