[28 July, 2015]: Four top international polygraph experts are set to take the stage at the Basic Polygraph Training course later this year. Effective Interviewing and Interrogation Techniques authors Nathan J. Gordon and William L. Fleisher are included in the line-up for what is to be a singular training event.

"This course will be a little different than those offered in the past," says course organiser and CSI Africa CEO Amelia Griesel. "A panel of such distinguished instructors and some new and exciting course material is really something to take note of, especially if forensic analysis or HR is something that appeals to you."

The other two instructors are Essam Gamaleldin, who is currently the American Scientific Investigative Training  (ASIT) director for the Middle East & Africa, and ASIT Assistant Director Tuvia Shurany.

The course, titled Basic Polygraph Training, is anything but basic. Aside from extensive polygraph training, it also includes instruction on interview and interrogation techniques.

"It's a thoroughly comprehensive polygraph training course and includes the Forensic Assessment Interview Technique which will be presented by the person who quite literally wrote the book on it," Griesel continued.

Developed by course lecturer Nathan J. Gordon, the Forensic Interview Assessment Technique, or FAINT, uses a test composed of approximately 30 questions that can be used in any investigative interview, and lets interviewers analyse a subject's verbal and non-verbal responses to detect deceptive behaviour.

Nathan J. Gordon is the founder and director of the Academy for Scientific Investigative Training and also the current president of the International Society of Polygraph Examiners, and a past president of the American Polygraph Association (APA). 

The Basic Polygraph Training course will take place from the October 5th - December 6th in Pretoria, and is accredited by both the International Society of Polygraph Examiners and the American Polygraph Association.

Course participants will be provided with polygraph instruments for the duration of the course, and will need their own laptop computers. Successful completion of the course includes a written examination as well as a practical assessment comprised of 25 tests. Participants who successfully complete the course will be fully qualified to work as qualified polygraphists both locally and abroad.
