From 3 to 5 July 2012 an important workshop for South African NPOs (non-profit organisations) will be held at Bishop Bavin School in Bedfordview, Gauteng. The workshop, entitled “Survival, Strategy, and Sustainability: South African NPOs in 2012”, is being presented by COACH (Coalition of Anglican Children’s Homes).

The workshop features sessions by many of South Africa’s leading exponents and practitioners of advocacy, fundraising, governance, and digital technology.

Keynotes will be delivered by Margie Keeton, author of “The Sustainability Challenge: Pressures and Opportunities for South African NGOs”; Tony Manning, doyen of the field of Strategic Management in South Africa who has authored a number of books on the subject; and, Egon Oswald, Cape Law Society human rights lawyer of the year in 2011 and the first South African lawyer to successfully prosecute a case at the United Nations Human Rights Commission.

Maya Keel, Executive Director of COACH, says “We are very pleased to be presenting this practical workshop which addresses many of the key issues facing organisations in the NPO sector in South Africa today. Speakers will be identifying key steps that can be taken to enhance advocacy, fundraising, use of digital technology, and governance in these tough times”.
