International Stars of Magic transforms GrandWest into the ultimate magical paradise this October!

They’ve dazzled audiences in theatres across the globe for decades with their unbelievable feats of magic – now three of the top internationally-renowned magicians Max Maven, Paul Wilson and Rob Zabrecky, will transform Cape Town’s very own GrandWest into a marvellous paradise in the amazing extravaganza, the International Stars of Magic, from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 October, 2015 at 8pm nightly!

Hosted by the College of Magic, the Mother City’s only magical arts organisation, the International Stars of Magic forms part of the 2015 South African Magic Championships, a triennial event held to select the best magician nationwide.

Local magic fanatics will be astounded at the wondrous metamorphosis of the GrandWest into the ultimate magic convention venue during this three day fest with a series of exhilarating contests, demonstrations, panel discussions and more. The International Stars of Magic offers these mystic aficionados the rare chance to see Maven, Wilson and Zabrecky perform up close in the intimate environment of the Roxy Revue Bar.

Combining three nights of unlimited magic, three of the world’s most celebrated performers and the most entertaining venue in Cape Town, this is magical entertainment like you’ve never seen it before!

Set to mystify audiences nightly at the International Stars of Magic are: 

Max Maven (USA ) – The Mentalist,  whose performance is described by The New York Times as being a “category-defying mind-reading show that veers into conceptual art”.  Hailed as one of the greatest mindreaders in the world – Maven will be having you question what is real and what is not – are your thoughts really your own? -  Paul Wilson (UK ) – The Deceptionist, star of the BBC’s The Real Hustle, he is the world's foremost expert on cons and scams, a master magician, speaker, and authority on the art of deception. Rob Zabrecky ( USA ) – The Virtuoso, two time Stage Magician of the Year from the famed  Magic Castle in Los Angeles, the name means ‘abracadabra sideways’ ! Hailed as Holland’s hottest magician by magazine MagicSeen, Fritz “with a Z” Alkemade is the latest international artist to be added to the 2015 South African Magic Championships guest performers ‘list. A trailblazer in impromptu magic, Alkemade has performed at the renowned Magic Castle in Los Angeles and is one of the busiest professional magicians in the Netherlands. For the mini magic fanatics, there's the Children’s Magic Spectacular at the Roxy Revue Bar on Saturday 10 October,2015 at 10am, where South Africa’s top children’s entertainers will transport the Mother City’s young and young at heart into a fantastical world filled with incredible illusions, dazzling magic, hilarious antics, audience participation and fun-filled fantasy for the whole family.

2015 is a big year for the College of Magic, the only organisation of its kind in the world, as it celebrates three and a half decades of training adults and children in the theatrical performance art of magic and its allied arts.
