The Beverly Hills Hotel & 5 Star Durban Need YOUR Help to make 67 blankets in honour of Madiba

Join us on this incredible journey. Stitch by stitch, we will be keeping thousands of people around the world warm in the name of Nelson Mandela. Working with 67 Blankets For Nelson Mandela Day!

5 Star Durban, together with Beverly Hills hotel  and Paula MacKenzie are drumming up support in KwaZulu-Natal for the 67 Blankets for Mandela Campaign.

C.E.O. of 67 Blankets, Carolyn Steyn has the exciting challenge of making 21 000 blankets by 27 April, in honour of Nelson Mandela and in celebration of 21 years of democracy. These blankets will be laid out on the lawns of the Union Buildings’ gardens in a stunning display of charity and care, before being sent to charities to keep those in need warm!

This is an awesome ask and the foundation is well on its way to achieving its goal. But we want to help.

We are calling on the people of KZN to assist by helping us to make 67 blankets by 20 April ! Lets show South Africa that KZN cares!

Our request is as follows :

1. Beverly Hills has set up a collection bin in the foyer of the hotel and we are asking for wool, crochet hooks (size 5.5) and knitting needles (size 5) in order to get an army of ‘knitwits’ working on the project.  The bin will be at the hotel until 7th April. Every delivery of wool will be given an entry in our lucky draw for spot prizes of wine hampers!

2. We are asking for crocheted, knitted or quilted blankets and squares. The size of each square to be  20 x20 cm  and the blanket size  140 x 180cm.

For every 4 squares you drop off at the hotel ,you will receive one entry on our lucky draw.

For every blanket delivered you will receive 10 entries in the lucky draw.

Completed blankets and or squares to be dropped off at the Beverly Hills Hotel. If you enter the blanket lucky draw, you could be the lucky winner of :

First Prize:

An indulgent evening of luxury, with a sumptuous stay at the Beverly Hills for you an your partner inclusive dinner and a bottle of wine.

Second Prize:

A dinner for 2 at the Beverly Hills inclusive of a bottle wine

Third Prize:

Saturday afternoon Haute tea for 2 at The Beverly Hills

All blankets and squares must be delivered to the Beverly Hills by Wednesday 15 April The draw will take place on Thursday 16 April , when the 3 lucky winners will be announced.
