MetroFibre Networx achieves Level 1 BBBEE Rating

MetroFibre Networx has achieved a Level One (1) BBBEE rating for 2023 under the ICT Sector Charter targets.

The improvement from BBBEE level 4 in 2020 to level 2 in 2021 and now level 1 in 2023 is testament to MetroFibre’s commitment and focused approach to transformation, enterprise development, skills development, especially for marginalised youth, and community investment.

“Transformation is an ongoing journey for our business and not an end-point. As a firm, diversity and inclusion are strategic pillars of our business and we view it as a tremendous opportunity to build and contribute to the socio-economic development of our country and society. We remain fully committed to continuing our investments in our socio-economic and enterprise development programmes in South Africa, making a tangible difference in our society where all individuals should have the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their socio-economic background.

“Our commitment to, and focus on skills development has intensified, with participation in several key initiatives, including the Yes4Youth programme which creates opportunities for young professionals and graduates to gain work experience and skills for the professional environment. We also engage in a partnered initiative with Cortex Hub, which invests in artificial intelligence, mentorship, and training programmes aimed at empowering South African women in technology. We have also established partnerships with several leading learning institutes, such as the Gordon Institute of Business Science, Milpark Education and Wits Business School, to further develop skills within our business and ensuring that our people are able to develop the essential skills needed to remain relevant in the rapidly changing world of work,” explains Jan-Jan Bezuidenhout, CEO of MetroFibre Networx.

“In achieving our transformation objectives, we are committed to driving our agenda around aspects of enterprise development and education. The best way for us to do this in a meaningful manner is to reinvest back into our communities and to ensure that no one gets left behind – not at school, not at work, and not at home. We are committed to developing quality, diverse and inclusive workforces, and transformed supply chains that are able to make a meaningful impact in reshaping South Africa’s socio-economic outcomes for the better,” concludes Bezuidenhout.

For MetroFibre’s business customers, it means they can claim 135% of their procurement spend which further supports their transformation objectives.
