Knowledgeable, Pragmatic, Motivational. Generous. Those are just some of the words which spring to mind when chatting to Networking Guru, Karl Smith who will facilitate the launch of Angel Wings Aviation’s first European operation on the 30 March 2012. The event to be hosted by the Hilton Hotel in Manchester and will feature aviation gurus in the United Kingdom, as well as delegates from all over the globe.
Co-founder of Angel Wings Aviation, Masithokoze Moyo-Thompson, now based in Manchester (UK) and Karl Smith, founder of Business Networking South Africa, first met a few years ago in Gauteng where he was a guest speaker. “Our connection and relationship is truly a networking success story. I am humbled and honoured to share in the joy of Masithokoze Moyo-Thompson and her husband Gerry Thompson” said Karl.
Masithokoze is a private pilot and served as the only woman executive director at Alpine Aviation, an aviation company that flew privately, serving private clients, including government officials in the Southern Africa region, including providing flights to multi-billionaires and international celebrities. Along the way she has earned numerous awards, including being nominated as one of South Africa's Most Influential Women in Business. Not only is Masithokoze Moyo-Thompson a shining example of what women can accomplish, but she also works actively to create opportunities and make them more accessible to others.
Speaking at the launch of the Angel Wings Aviation Jet Card, Gerry Thompson, co-founder of the company, said, “To celebrate this milestone, we have invited our business partners, current aviation clients and jet operators to join us for a fantastic networking dinner at one of Manchesters Iconic Buildings, the Hilton Hotel Deans Gate. Our VIP Guest Speaker is a respectable woman in the Aviation Industry in the United Kingdom; Ms Dorothy Pooley. Dorothy is Chairman of the Education and Training Committee at GAPAN and Chairman of the Professional Flying Instructors Association.”
Also set to attend is the South African Deputy High Commissioner - Miss Bongiwe Qwabe to present Aviation Bursaries to be awarded to Wanda Mafate, Ontefetse Bradley-Precious Matjila, and Harrison Debra, from South Africa and Ghana respectively.
It is almost impossible not to be inspired by someone like Karl who sees his visit to the UK as a significant step in the direction to obtain global exposure, especially when he talks about his passion to see business networking and relationship building training as key components of tertiary education. Said Karl, “Most of us don't spend enough time building, nurturing and quantifying the key personal, functional and strategic relationships we need to achieve success”.
Amongst the other speaking engagements that have been lined up for Karl is The Peter Jones Enterprise Academy where he will conduct a master class. The Academy was set up by Peter Jones, CBE, star of ‘Dragons’ Den’, to offer further education courses in enterprise and entrepreneurship in the UK where students are actually required to set up and run their own business. Widely quoted in articles globally, Karl believes that the launch of Angel Wings Aviation and the other speaking engagements will stimulate significant interest in South Africa in general and Cape Town in particular.
